For the past
year I have been specializing in standards work relating to certification and authentication
on the Internet. This encompasses Certification Practice Statements (CPS),
the developing certificate policies and policy extensions to X.509 v.3, and
similar work being addressed by international standards groups, such as ISO/IETF, PKIX, as well as
the PKCS standards work.
- I also
specialize in general security policies and procedures. For Internet
security, such policies and procedures are needed for organizations that
wish to provide Internet connections for staff, and those planning to use
security products and services for Internet or intranet transactions.
Without policies and procedures, companies and other organizations (eg.,
academic or health institutions) are vulnerable to theft of data, to
unauthorized access to sensitive information, modification of vital
information and fraud.
